FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES TEACHERS ASSOCIATION OF TEXAS
Lisa Adams is a proud native Texan born in Fort Hood, Texas. As an Army Brat, she lived for 18 years on military bases in Korea, Japan and Germany where she graduated from the International School of Dusseldorf. Lisa earned a B.A. in Mass Communication from Texas State University with a minor in Family and Consumer Sciences.
Following her 10-year tenure with the State of Texas, Lisa worked for Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, helping to develop their hospice programs including the first inpatient hospice unit between Austin and San Antonio. After nearly 14 years with the hospital, she moved on to the Texas Rural Water Association as their Foundation and Development Director. She successfully helped to develop their Foundation's programs including the Veteran Employment and Rural Water Workforce Initiative programs.
To expand on her development skills, Lisa decided to start her own company working with several nonprofit organizations where she specialized in strategic planning, governmental relations, and business development.
After a few years of working on her own, Lisa could not turn down the opportunity to work with the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association of Texas. Lisa looks forward to utilizing her special skills and helping FCSTAT to fulfill its mission and grow its membership.
When she is not working, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband and family including their fur baby. Her hobbies include running, cooking, gardening, live music and volunteering for her local VFW and Auxiliary Post as their Senior Vice President.
