Student Membership

HOW DO I QUALIFY TO JOIN THE FCSTAT AS A STUDENT MEMBER? A Student Membership shall include:

(a) A member of a student section shall be a family and consumer sciences major and full-time student and one who is not employed full time in the education system, in a Texas institution of higher learning (1) which offers certification in Family and Consumer Sciences Education, and (2) where a student section has been approved by the Board of Directors of the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association of Texas.


(b) An at-large student member shall be a family and consumer sciences major and full-time student, and one who is not employed full time in the education system, in a Texas institution of higher learning, which does not have an approved student section of the Association. At- large student member shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of active membership, excepting that of voting and holding office in an approved student section of the parent association or in the parent association. Student section members shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of active membership, excepting that of voting and holding office in the parent association, the Family and Consumer Sciences Teachers Association of Texas.

ANNUAL COST: $20.00

Professional liability insurance coverage is now included in the cost of Student membership! The membership and policy coverage dates are 8/1/24-8/1/25.

  • FCSTAT sponsors an outstanding Professional Development Conference twice a year for Family and Consumer Sciences Educators. The Midwinter Conference is in January. The Summer Conference is in July.
  • Job referrals are posted on our website for members. 
  • FCSTAT educational news sent via E-mail.
